Middle managers are the backbone of enterprise survival and development and the executor of enterprise strategy and objectives.They have the information transfer,supervision,leadership and other functions on their shoulders.Clever and capable middle managers play an important role in implementing the business objectives and work plans.Then a set of scientific and reasonable performance appraisal system to measure the quality,attitude and competence of middle managers is essential for enterprise to achieve strategic objectives and improve the company performance.This paper takes middle managers of A company as the research object.The first chapter elaborates the research background and research significance,summarizes and briefly reviews the research status at home and abroad,and introduces the main research contents and methods of this paper.The second chapter defines the concept of performance appraisal,introduces the connotation and characteristics of middle managers,as well as the common methods of performance appraisal,and elaborates the advantages and disadvantages of 360 degree assessment method,key performance indicators,balanced scorecard,and target management method.The third chapter analyzes the present situation and existing problems of the performance appraisal of middle managers in A company according to its organizational structure.The fourth chapter introduces design ideas and principles of middle managers performance improvement program in A company and feasibility of balanced scorecard.Taking purchasing department as an example,this paper designs A company middle managers performance appraisal index based on balanced scorecard and also designs its weight by adopting Delphi Method.The fifth chapter puts forward some implementation suggestions and safeguard measures for program improvement.The sixth chapter summarizes the full essay and puts forward the deficiencies and prospects of this study.
