This article focuses on the ongoing coverage of the “Nie Shubin Case” of Southern Weekly and finds that it constructs a public discourse space during the case reporting process.For this public discourse space,this paper conducts concrete research from the three aspects of structural features,ways of achieving construction,and practical significance.The diversity of the discourse subject,the differences in appeals in public opinion,and the continuous enhancement of public nature,these three points reflect the structural features of the public discourse space constructed by the media.The Southern Weekly's reports on the “Nie Shubin case” used narrative strategies to construct the public discourse space in three major ways: the agenda setting of the case reports,commentary guidance of opinion leaders,and space maintenance by multiple news media.On the basis of adhering to news facts,media such as “Southern Weekly” actively supervised the progress of the “Nie Shubin case” through news reports and promoted the improvement of the corresponding legal system.In the end,the “Nie Shubin case” can be treated fairly,and the practical significance of the media in constructing a public discourse space was considerable. |
