The Collective Memory Construction Of News Media

Collective memory is obviously socially constructive.The news media is a significant medium for reproducing and reshaping collective memory.News is related to history and collective memory,and each has its own identity in a different framework.Clarifying the collective memory construction of the news media has important implications for us to treat history correctly and gain recognition.Through genre analysis and text analysis of 161 sample reports on the September 18 th Incident of the People's Daily from 1946 to 2016,the research explores the construction and influencing factors of collective media memory.On the whole,the relevant reports of the People's Daily on the September 18 th Incident have shown an uneven distribution of numbers.The reporting time was concentrated around the anniversary of September 18.The layout of the report was mainly in the form of bulletin and front page;the genre of the report In terms of characteristics,news reports for commemorative events account for more than 70% of the total.Close-ups and newsletters use time-and-space interlaced writing methods to link current events with history.Commentary articles are based on historical interpretation and enlightenment.With regard to the content and characteristics of the report,it traces history,exposing Japan's launch of the September 18 th Incident to invade China and revealing the Chinese people's anti-Japanese war activities.It is supplemented by the narrative of “national shame,suffering,and trauma”,and it is shaped from historical and emotional perspectives.National identity,and the narrative theme of the anniversary commemoration ensured the continuity of the collective memory.Taking the influence factors of the People's Daily building the collective memory of the September 18 th Incident as an example,it is concluded that the news media is not only restricted by the news convention in the construction of collective memory,but also under the influence of the power of political and cultural intent,news and collective The responsibility of shaping the shared responsibility shared by memories also influences the framework of the construction of collective media memory.
