Faced with a rapidly changing world and a complicated international situation,Chine puts forward the Belt and Road(B&R)initiative to promote joint development through discussions and collaboration with aim to build a community of shared future.Knows as a Trans-century Project,the B&R initiative is characterized by its greatness and offers new opportunities to the countries alongside the road.As a global initiative,B&R has found its indispensable place in the international communication field.The way the media choose topics and construct its image directly impacts the international perceptions on the initiative and the implementation of the initiative.To have a better understanding of the current situation with regards to the B&R image,we need have a general view on how the domestic as well as foreign media present the initiative to the public.French is one of the most widely-used language in the world.To better command the international discourse power,our communication towards French-speaking countries should be one of our communication priority.Therefore,it's obligatory to know about how the French media report the B&R initiative.Based on the framing theory,this paper utilizes qualitative and quantitative analysis method on the B&R reports of the frenchpeople's daily,le Figaro and Le Monde to reveal how Chinese and French mainstream media choose topics and frames.This paper makes comparative study on the news source,themes,reports frames and rhetoric devices to compare their emotional inclinations.Also,the paper examines the reasons behind the framing differences between two parties and finds several inadequacies of our current communication strategies and then proposes some suggestions.
