From March 25 to March 27,2019(French local time),Chinese President Xi Jinping conducted a three-day state visit in France.The state visit became the focus of attention and coverage of the French media.With the gradual improvement of China's international status,China plays an increasingly important role in the international arena.In order to further promote the building of a community of human destiny,China has proposed initiatives such as the “Belt and Road”,and France has expressed positive attitudes but It is rare to see its actions.At the same time,according to the survey,more than half of the French have a negative view of China.Why is this so? News media discourse is one of the most accessible and accepted ways of discourse in the public.News reports have the role of reflecting the power struggle behind the state,and can influence the audience.This article will combine content analysis and discourse analysis to reveal whether the French media objectively and correctly report on China's related issues,as well as Chinese related issues in French media reports,and further explore the hidden ideology and power struggle behind it.This study selects the French mainstream media "World News" and "Le Figaro",which are known as "quality",as a research sample around the "Xi Jinping's visit to France".The specific research core is divided into the following three aspects: A: Using quantitative content analysis,the French media will finally get a panoramic view of the overall macroscopic construction of the state visit;second: using Norman Fairclough's discourse analysis path and method,combined with Halliday system functional grammar,from Discourse texts,discourse practice and social practice are analyzed.The mainstream media in France has a certain tendency to report on China-related reports during the “Xi Jinping's visit to France”,and finally reveals the content of the report,the ideology behind the report and the power The third relationship: summarizing the Sino-French relations and the Chinese national image under the French media reports,and at the same time proposing suggestions and strategies for improving China's external communication power in the future.According to the above three parts of research,the following conclusions are drawn:Focusing on this visit,French media reports focused on political and economic topics.A large number of reports closely focused on the level of international relations.The genre focused on newsletters and in-depth reports.The overall report tended to be neutral,with more negative reports.Reported positively.In addition,the three dimensions of text,discourse practice,and social practice affect each other.When French mainstream media report producers make choices in reporting discourse,they will be affected by various factors at the social level,thus conveying the hidden ideology behind them.China's international status is gradually increasing,but the international right to speak is still in a disadvantaged position.Based on this,the author puts forward suggestions from three levels of raising the awareness of the right to speak,innovating the way of communication,and "sinification" of the content of communication to help solve the current difficulties of China's external communication situation.
