Nigeria is the most populous country and the largest economy in Africa.As China's 3th largest trade partner in Africa,the economic and trade relations between China and Nigeria directly affect the deployment of China's foreign trade developmental strategy the Belt and Road.Nigeria,as one of the few countries in Africa with a well-established modern journalism and communication system,has various magazines,newspapers,televisions and radios,their reports on Chinese companies and investment in Nigeria,to a certain extent,influenced local Nigerian people's opinions and views on China's investment in Nigeria,and also reflected Nigerian government's attitudes and opinions,which affected its relevant decisions and action plan.In order to understand how the Nigerian mainstream media frame the issue of "Chinese companies and investment in Nigeria" in news reports,this research selected one of the most influential mainstream media in Nigeria,the Daily Trust,as the research object.And chose all the reports related to "China companies and investment in Nigeria" from January to December 2017 in the Daily Trust as text analysis objects.On the basis of predecessors' research,this research used Eentman's definition of framing theory as the research theory and adopted the research strategy of Mattes and Kohring,combined with the research methods of content analysis and text analysis,inductive analysis and deductive analysis,qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,to conduct an in-depth exploration and analysis on how Nigerian mainstream media frame Chinese companies and investment in their relevant reports from the respective of content,attitude and function.Eventually we learn that in the news reports related to "China companies and investment in Nigeria" in Nigerian mainstream media the Daily Trust,the content frameworks are consist of 7 types:foreign trade and business,domestic politics,domestic regional development strategies,corporate/industrial news,economic conditions and exhibitions;The positive framework and episodic framework hold dominant position;At the same time,these news reports shape four typical Chinese companies image: trustworthy partner,an object worthy of study,inferior goods maker and an accomplice of government.At the same time,in order to further analyze the reasons behind the formation of the framework,this research also seek the framework construction behind the reports.Based on the results of the research,to put forward some constructive suggestions for the positive publicity and further development of China-Nigeria economic and trade relations,which will promote the in-depth development of China-Africa,China-Nigeria relations,thus promoting the development of China's the Belt and Road strategy in Africa.
