Change Or Not:Analysis Of China's Disaster News In The Past Decade Based On The Frame Theory

Disaster always accompanies with the development of human society.Because of its characteristics such as suddenness,destructiveness and so on,disaster arouses people's instinctive attention and makes them try to avoid it.Thus,disaster news becomes the focus of public concern with its high news value.Throughout the disaster news reports in China,which has experienced several stages of development,it not only made a breakthrough in the Wenchuan earthquake,but also became the pacesetting report model of China's news media with its timely,open,transparent and other characteristics,obtaining highly praise at home and abroad.It is about a decade from the occurrence of Wenchuan earthquake.During this period,China's political environment,social environment and media environment have undergone some changes.In this decade,what kind of news framework did we use in disaster report?Is it "back to the original" or keep developing towards a new trend of change?It is a problem worth discussing that what kind of internal and external factors have it influenced.This paper is based on the framing theory,and take the Southern Metropolis Daily as the research object,selecting four typical disaster events including Wenchuan earthquake,Zhouqu mudslide,Ya'an earthquake and summer flood in 2016 as examples.From the perspective of "boundary" and "building frame",namely,news quantity,news sources,information sources,news topic,reporting genre and tendencies,to reveal the basic characteristics of disaster news frames of Southern Metropolis Daily in the past decade.With the time went by,whether the disaster news frame has changed?We try to seek out the reasons for the change under the traction of politics,market and audience.The research found that the disaster news of the Southern Metropolis Daily in the past decade has continued the news characteristics of the Wenchuan earthquake,showing the authority,and pay attention to the neutral report.It put the emphasis on the basic characteristics of frameworks with "humanity","government leadership" and "facts".The"humanity" is the main framework,"government leadership" is the normative framework,and "fact" is the basic framework.In recent years,there are more and more disaster news comments in the Southern Metropolis Daily,while the proportion of expert sources are increased.At the same time,the "accountability" and "knowledge science" frame is gradually taken seriously.It is believed that the change of the trend is the result of the three forces of the government,the public and the media.As a result,this article puts forward strategic suggestions to Southern Metropolis Daily on disaster news under the environment of new media:to diversify the sources of news and take advantage of its multiple platforms.
