The Study On Data Journalism Of XinHua Net

With the advent of the Internet age,data become an important asset.At the same time,Data Journalism has become the focus of attention of the press.In 2009,Tim Berners-Lee,who was honored as the father of the Internet,pointed out that "the future of the news is to analyze the data."Data is the core of Data Journalism.Although Data Journalism has close relationship with precision journalism and computer assistant reporting,the emergence and development of Data Journalism has a different background than the former two.Both the academia and the industry are interested in Data Journalism.International media take the lead in opening Data Journalism column,such as The Guardian,The New York Times,BBC and so on.Domestic media follow their steps and actively build Data Journalism column,especially portal site representatives Sohu,NetEase and CaiXin Net.Among this column,Data Journalism of Xinhua Net opened earlier and is representative.Therefore,this thesis selects Xinhua Net Data Journalism column as the object of research,to explore the characteristic of Data Journalism column and make recommendations for its future development.This paper firstly summarizes the research literature of the Data Journalism and the Xinhua Net to know the history and current situation of the research on them.Secondly,this paper uses textual analysis as the mean method to study reports quantity,content,form and effects of Data Journalism of Xinhua Net.The results show that the Data Journalism column has characteristics comparison with other similar media.In the Data Journalism of Xinhua Net,the amount of reporting is stable in everymonth.And its news reports show an obvious tendency while the investigative data news are absence.As to the form of data reporting,the column combines data visualization with sonification.However,interactive design are less than static on the whole.Besides,the feedback of political news in the column is more active than other news.In view of these characteristics of the Data Journalism of Xinhua Net,this paper puts forward some optimization strategies to Data Journalism but less than other news portals.Finally,this thesis reconsiders the shortcomings of the research,and makes a prospect for the development of future data news.
