A Study On Data Journalism Of Xinhua Net From The Perspective Of Narratology

With the rise and development of big data,data journalism has attracted more and more attention as a new form of reporting,and more and more media are actively involved in its exploration and practice.Data journalism embeds diversified data into news production and presents it in a visual form,which changes the production process and presentation of traditional news reports.Different from traditional news,the presentation of data journalism is more complicated and diverse,which is the reform and innovation of traditional news narration.This thesis tries to analyze the narrative characteristics and narrative mode of Xinhua net data journalism on the basis of domestic and foreign narrative theories,and makes some useful explorations of the narrative of data journalism by using text analysis and content analysis.This article mainly studies the narrative features of Xinhua net data journalism from five aspects: narrator,narrative perspective,narrative structure,narrative content,narrative form,and conducts deep analysis of its news reports and typical cases.The study found that the narrative style of Xinhua net data journalism is quite different from the traditional news narration.The news mainly takes the hidden narrator and the absent narrator as the basic forms,and uses the omniscient perspective to objectively present the news.The news takes the "kernel event" containing the main elements as the basic structure,recombines the "satellite event" according to the importance of news narrative elements.In some texts,different combinations of nesting can occur.In the Xinhua net data journalism,the political and economic news accounts for a large proportion,and the theme of narration shows a tendency of diversification.News uses a variety of media to integrate narratives in a visual way,telling news stories from different dimensions.The audience to a certain extent participated in the narrative process and the reconstruction of meaning.With the continuous development of the practice of data journalism,some problems have also been exposed,such as the solid narrative structure,the lack of depth of content presentation,and the weaker visual narrative.In the end,the article summarizes the narrative features of Xinhua net data journalism,and makes a reflection and prospect on the data journalism narration.It points out that we should make full use of narrative grammar,pay attention to the depth of events,make full use of the advantages of new media narrative discourse,enhance the ability of visual narration,and hope to provide some thinking and reference for its development.
