The Comparative Study On Data Journalism Between Xinhua Net And New York Times

This is a time full of data,and also a time carrying with it. Since Britain’s the Guardian use wikipedia decryption of the Iraq war diary to press a blockbuster with its data, the data journalism in global media spread is overwhelming.Since 2011, various types of media in China began to try to use the data news, at present, most mainstream media have opened up a special news program for data news, also took the creation of the daily news updates to the track.This paper choose the most influential media in USA, the New York Times and one of the major media in China, Xinhua data journalism for research, through the analysis of the current situation and the comparison of cases, to thinking about the present situation and development of data journalism.This paper mainly in the following four parts:the first part, a quantitative analysis of two cases, and do a brief dscription of the results. The second part is the comparative analysis of two similar themes in the works, by the comparing study to complement the study before. The third part, to summarize the analysis on the above research results. The fourth part, to do some forward-thinking of the development on data journalism.This paper summarizes the analysis of influence to content production from article sources, visual element and media platforms, policy and background of media. And have a thinking of innovation of news sources and the professional, the development of visual,their ability to journalists.
