Underachievers in this paper means the students who have poor academic performance in their study.The transformation of underachievers has always been a key subject to be conquered in education.The study on the causes of poor academic performance of rural junior high school students is the basis for effective transformation underachievers.A questionnaire survey was used to investigate the underachievers and the teachers of Z Middle School in BX County.The factors that caused underachievers and their school education were investigated,with 69 questionnaires for teachers and 273 questionnaires for poor students being collected.According to the survey,it is found that the development of learning ability of underachievers at a low level in all dimensions.School education has taken some intervention in the development of learning ability of underachievers,but the intervention effect is not good.The transformation of underachievers is very complex and repetitive,which requires the joint efforts and long-term adherence of students' parents,school education and students themselves.In view of the causes of poor academic performance of rural junior high school students,a series of suggestions were put forward for family education,school education and students themselves.In family education,parents should have reasonable expectations,recognize that the standards for children's success vary from person to person.Parents should participate more in the child's education process,learn more about psychology,pay attention to the child's mental health,and give appropriate education to adolescent children.In school education,we must increase the emphasis on underachievers and we must take long-term development of students as the starting point.We should improve the teaching ability of teachers,focus on the development of student learning habits and also carry out mental health education to teach children how to face difficulties in school.From the perspective of students,it is recommended that students give full play to their subjective initiative and set up learning goals for themselves,and actively attribute their academic success or failure.They should face a variety of negative emotions in the learning process with a positive attitude,develop good learning habits,and comprehensively improve your learning ability.
