The discipline of mathematics plays a very important role in the basic disciplines of senior high school.The main body of the study is the relationship between number and form.As we all know,mathematics in high school is more difficult,so accordingly the number of the students who have difficulty in math-learning is increasing year by year.They are poor in understanding the concept of maths,and calculating the maths problems.Besides,they don’t have a proper attitude towards learning math as well as the the good mood for getting over such difficulties.So it is quite a common phenomenon for the students to have difficulty in learning math,which hinders the all-round development of the students and influences the effects of teaching and education.As a consequence,many researchers show great interest in such phenomenon and have made a great many studies.Through investigation,it is found that there are fewer studies in this aspect in senior high schools in urban areas,and even fewer studies in mathematics.Based on the teaching experiences in Liaodong Bay Experimental Senior High School in Panjin City and the questionnaires of the three different grades as well as the theoretical analysis,this paper aims at finding out the causes of the difficulties that the students in the suburban areas have met with in learning mathematics and then trying to come up with some transforming strategies for solving the problems.This paper consists of the following five chapters:Chapter One is the preface,which mainly introduces the background information of this paper and the current study situation at home and abroad in the difficulties that students have met with while learning mathematics as well as the significance of choosing this topic as the subject matter together with the study approaches to it.Chapter Two is about the theory study,which mainly introduces the concept and types of difficulties in learning mathematics and then analyzes the characteristics of mathematics of senior high school and types of the difficulties.Chapter Three is about the analysis of the causes contributing to the difficulties,in which questionnaires are carefully designed,distributed,and gotten back.Through the questionnaires,this chapter analyzes the attribution causes,which is divided into two aspects:external factors and internal factors.External factors involve the aspects of teachers,schools,families and the characteristics of this discipline contributing to such difficulties.Internal factors involve the students’ attitudes,their study habits,their abilities of studying maths and other subjects,and their will power of facing difficulties.Chapter Four is about the study strategies.Based on the former researches,there are altogether three transforming strategies for lessening the problems from the following aspects:schools,teachers,students and families.Chapter Five is conclusion,which summarizes the whole paper and the expectations.It highlights the arguments put forward above and the teaching results that have been brought about by carrying out such strategies.At the same time it also reflects on the defections of this research and future expectations.
