With the influence of different factors,a part of junior students gradually become students with learning difficulties.In junior high school,a student grows from childhood to puberty.In this key period,the students with learning difficulties especially need the care and help from all aspects: family,school and society.So many educators and scholars have to face the problem of students with learning difficulties.However,the research and transformation about the problem just lingers on the theory not teaching practice.To make up the shortcomings of class teaching system,and for the healthy development of students’ body and mind,it is necessary to improve the transformation work from the theoretical level to the practical level.In order to help them get rid of this difficulty soon,the writer analyses the causes of slow learners through questionnaires and interviews,and puts forward the suggestions on how to transform them through learning strategies and nonintellectual factors.This thesis is composed of five parts.In Chapter One,the writer introduces the study background,study meaning,and study methods.In Chapter Two,the definitions of “junior high school”,“students with learning difficulties”,“students with learning difficulties in English” are presented.Chapter Three is about the study object selection.By means of questionnaires and interviews,the writer finds out the problems in nonintellectual factors and learning strategies of slow learners and choose two students to be the objects of study,student A and student B.Chapter Four is about the procedures of the research,which is divided into four rounds: vocabulary,reading comprehensive,grammar and composition training based on nonintellectual factors and learning strategies.Each round lasts for one month.In Chapter Five,the writer gives the conclusion and suggestions.We have following research findings.The slow learners can be transformed.Transformation is a long process.Nonintellectual factors play a very important part in study,and so do the learning strategies.The action research can greatly improve the quality of teaching.
