Research On Charlotte Mason's Thoughts On Children's Education

Charlotte mason(1842-1923)was an English educator who created the charlotte mason family education series based on her lifelong educational practice.Her central point is that "children are born human",a "person" with all the possibilities for development.The task of educators is to guide,assist,actively create conditions,eliminate potential adverse factors,let the nature of children naturally develop,let every child according to their internal personality characteristics,unhindered development into a more complete person,become a useful person to the society.The study of charlotte mason's thought on children's education is helpful to the development of preschool education in China.This study attempts to analyze charlotte mason's family education series to interpret her views on children's education,so as to provide theoretical and practical reference for China's early childhood education.The first part of this study is the introduction,which points out the origin,significance,research status at home and abroad,the definition of core concepts and research methods.The second part analyzes the life of charlotte mason and the background of children's educational thought.Life is mainly divided into three periods according to age: childhood,youth and middle and old age;The thoughts of naturalism education,science education,"all mankind" education have great influence on mason's thought and practice of children education.The third part takes children's view as the main line,and summarizes mason's children's view through analyzing her series of books.Mason put forward the concept of children that "children are born with development potential" and "children are the wealth of society".The fourth part analyzes mason's view of the purpose of children's education.She puts forward the view of the purpose of education that "children's education is to establish connections","children's education is to shape character",and "children's education is to cultivate useful citizens".The fifth part analyzes mason's view on the content of children's education.She believes that the content of children's education should be comprehensive and diversified,including courses with scientific knowledge as the core and courses with humanistic knowledge as the core.In addition,ideas are also educational content that needs to be provided to children.The sixth part is the inspiration of mason's thought on children's education to China's preschool education.
