| Charlotte Mason(1842-1923)was born in the mid nineteenth century in NorthernIreland, she was a modern famous British educator, who was the founder of thewestern "home education movement", devoting all her lifetime to explore theeducation of children. She put forward the idea of "home education for all children" inthe background of that home education only graced the children of rich families atthat time, and made great contributions to the development of home-schoolingmovement of modern Britain as well as the whole world, therefore, she was called the"mother of the home education" by the educational circles.Mason’s educational thought stressed that children should learn freely, teachersand parents are the "trail-setter" of their children, home and school is a place to trainchildren’s interests and creativities, every natural and man-made factor isindispensable in children’s growth, meanwhile, affecting each other. Finally, thepurpose of what we do is to guide our children to develop their subjective initiative inthe natural life environment, and make our children become "one" with all thedevelopment potential and ability. At the beginning, the article introduces CharlotteMason’s life and time background. In the middle, it details the viewpoint of her homeeducation thought, which is the most important section.
