Preliminary Inquiry Into Home Education Thought And Practice Of Charlotte Mason

Charlotte Mason(1842-1923)was a famous home educator,the founder of"the House of Education",and hailed as"the Mother of English Home Education".She spent all her life to explor how to teach children in the family,school and social environment.She formed a set of effective ideological theory of home education based on practice and diligence.She also published a series of the Charlotte Mason home education books.Charlotte Mason's idea of home education,which impenetrated by a study in the nature,has formed and consummated in the practice of the House of Education and Parents'Review which were found by herself.Charlotte Mason insisted on the important role which observe,experience by themselves can play in one's development.The essence of Charlotte Mason's home education is the understanding to"the natural environment",and the unique characteristic of Charlotte Mason's idea of home education is to inosculate the idea of naturalism with the learning interesting,cultivate children's natural learning interest.This paper attempts through Charlotte Mason's writings and research on her,to analysis her life and life experiences for,in-depth study to Charlotte Mason's home education thought and practice.At last,I hope through this study,it will be helpful to the theoretical research of Chinese educational system.
