The 21st century,also termed the intelligence era or the Internet age,is marked by acknowledge explosion and diversified ways to transmit information.In the various forms of information in current use,Non-continuous text is currently among the most common and popular ways of presenting information.Non-continuous text reading and writing,which involves not only traditional language skills,such as the use of characters and symbols,but also modern forms of literacy,such as information technology and cultural exchange,is an indispensable foundation for basic literacy of citizens in the information age.The key competencies is the necessary qualities and key capacities to solve complex problems and to achieve individual lifelong development in information era.It focuses on Critical thinking,Communication,Collaboration,Creativity,Cultural Competence(hereinafter referred to as 5C).Non-continuous text reading and writing is directly related to what is emphasized as the the key competencies of the 21st century,which is Communication.It is also closely linked to Cultural Competence and impacts on Critical thinking,Creativity and Collaboration.Elementary and secondary school education,especially Chinese language education should answer the new call of our times on citizen quality,follow the trend of the key competencies research and echo what was required in the curriculum standards for elementary and secondary education.Non-continuous text reading and writing should be consciously explored,and meanwhile,internal relationship between Non-continuous text reading and writing and promotion of the key competencies should be clarified.In addition,we should employ Non-continuous text reading and writing to consolidate the cultural foundation of students,guiding them to engage effectively in contemporary culture,push their language,thinking and aesthetics to a higher level.The objectives of this study are Non-continuous text reading and writing,promotion of the key competencies.The main content includes three aspects:the significance of Non-continuous text reading and writing in improving the key competencies of students,connotation and the connection between Non-continuous text reading and writing and the key competencies,teaching strategies and approaches of Non-continuous text reading and writing.This study holds that ability of Non-continuous text reading and writing is an organic part of the key competencies;the improvement of the key competencies of students is inseparable from Non-continuous text reading and writing,and it is related to the level of Non-continuous text reading and writing.Therefore,we must attach great importance to and study in detail how to enhance the key competencies of students through Non-continuous text reading and writing.Regarding Chinese language teaching,Non-continuous text reading and writing is an integral part,but it is not just a task for Chinese language discipline.Given the close connection between Non-continuous text reading and Non-continuous text writing in life and the interdisciplinarity about the development of the key competencies of students,the study of Non-continuous text reading and writing from the key competencies perspective has two paths to choose from:one is to regard the Chinese language discipline as the fulcrum and proceed in the form of the Chinese discipline plus;the other is to break through the boundaries of disciplines and conduct interdisciplinary exploration by approaching solving complex situational problems.The study has two innovations.First,instead of adopting the utilitarian tendency that treats Non-continuous text reading and writing as a tool to adapt to the changes in information acquisition and communication patterns in the intelligence and Internet era,this study concentrates on lifting the theoretical quality,aims to bolster the improvement of the key competencies,recognizes the significance of Non-continuous text reading and writing for the development of well-rounded students and its role in implementing curriculum standards and expanding the learning vision based on systems theory and complexity theory.The study also probes into the internal relationship between the key competencies and Non-continuous text reading and writing,explores relevant factors affecting Non-continuous text reading and writing,seeking the basis of functional linguistics,the art of reading and writing;second,this study actively strives for and initially constructs the target system and implementation system of Non-continuous text reading and writing.Compared with the teaching of Non-continuous text reading that is widely discussed,there are few studies elaborating on combining teaching with Non-continuous text writing,and that is where the current study seeks to make a novel contribution to scholarship.
