Research objective: Physical inactivity is the third fatal factor for man's death worldwide, becoming the most serious public problem in the world. With the rising standard of living,long-term sitting and physical inactivity contribute most to college students' being overweight or obesity.By investigating on physical activities and testing body composition of female college students, this paper his paper analyses the status quo of female college students, aiming to explore the correlation between physical activity level and body composition.By comparing the indicators of body composition before and after an intervention of walking, this paper explores how a12-week moderate-intensity walking affects body composition of female college students both from normal weight group and overweight/obese group, aiming to provide theoretical and practical guidance on physical activity, fat reduction shaping and body strengthening of female college students.Research method: This research is conducted by studying 403 female college students in Jiangxi Normal University, where Physical activity log recorded the physical activity of female college students, the JAWON body composition analyzer was used to measure body composition and SPSS16.0 was used to analyse data to explore the correlation between physical activity level and body composition. This experiment is carried out in the form of voluntary registration among 403 female college students, where groups of 40 female college students are recruited and are exposed to a moderate-intensity walking exercise that lasts for 12 weeks and happens6 times each week.In the experiment,a body composition analyzer is used both before and after exercise, data is classified and analyzed using mathematical statistics and T inspection is also adopted comparing the changes of indicators before and after exercise.Research results:1.Female students' daily physical activity are mainly lying and sitting, which accordingly possess 9.3 hours and 10 hours. In the meantime, time spent on light-intensity physical activities(LPA),moderate-intensity physical activities(MPA),moderate-vigorous intensity physical activities(MVPA)and vigorous-intensity activities(VPA)is 227.14 mins,6.43 mins,0min and 10.71 mins accordingly.2.The total energy consumption in sitting,LPA and MVPA is 4503.74 kcal,3491.4kcal and 308.78 kcal accordingly, while daily energy expenditure in a school day and a day off is 1276 kcal and 1168.7kcal accordingly.3.There are great differences(p<0.01)among daily physical activity time, daily energy expenditure, energy expenditure per unit weight, exercise frequency and exercise duration(all related to sitting,LPA,MPA and MVPA),different BMI femalecollege students(in the light group, the normal weight group, the overweight group and the obesity group). The daily average sitting time for different BMI college students from each group is greater than 9 hours.Time spent on MVPA is merely12.86 mins in the light or normal weight group, whereas less than 10 mins in the overweight or obese group.4.Indicators including weight,BMI,body fat percentage, body fat, lean body mass, skeletal muscle visceral fat, subcutaneous fat and waist to hip ratio(WHR)are positively correlated with daily sedentary behavior time and daily energy expenditure(P<0.01).Meanwhile,LPA time,MVPA time are negatively correlated with indicators including weight,BMI,lean body mass, visceral fat content, subcutaneous fat content and WHR(P<0.01).What's more, exercise frequency and exercise duration per week are positively correlated with weight,BMI,body fat percentage, fat weight and WHR(P<0.01).5.With an intervention of 12-week moderate intensity walking, indicators including weight,BMI,body fat percentage, body fat, lean body mass, visceral fat content, subcutaneous fat content,,skeletal muscle visceral fat, subcutaneous fat,WHR and basal metabolic rate(BMR)drop dramatically(p<0.01).Muscle content in the normal weight group drops with a faintly notice(p>0.05),whereas in the overweight or obese group drops significantly(P<0.05).Research conclusion:1.Female students sit for the most of time in their daily life, and most female college students do not reach the recommended amount of physical activity.More time is spent on LPA than on MPA in one day,and the participation levels in VPA vary and are low, resulting in physical inactivity.2.The total energy consumed in all kinds of activities in a week lies mostly in sitting activity and LPA,and energy is more greatly consumed in a school day than a day off.3.Different BMI female college students(in the light group, the normal weight group, the overweight group and the obesity group)spend relatively too much time sitting, where too little time on MVPA.The intensity and time of physical activities in the groups of overweight and obesity are distinctly less than those in the groups of light and normal weight.Long-term sitting put female college students at the risk of obesity, and more time on MVPA or VPA reduces the risk.4.There is a correlation between physical activities of female college students and various indicators of body composition.Body weight,BMI,body fat percentage, fat weight,WHR and other indicators were significantly positively correlated with sedentary behavior time and daily energy consumption. What's more,Body weight,BMI,body fat percentage, fat weight,WHR and other indicators were significantly negatively correlated with LPA time,MVPA time, unit weight energy consumption, exercise frequency and exercise duration per week.5.A 12-week moderate-intensity walking activity can significantly reduce fat in the groups of normal weight, overweight and obesity, and the reduction is greater in the obesity group than in the normal weight group.A 12-week moderate-intensity walking activity contributes to fat reduction shaping and reduces the risk of central obesity.
