| The quality of translation of Chinese social scientific literature into foreign languages is directly related to China’s international academic discourse power, and also affects the publicity and acceptance of China’s social scientific research results abroad.Taking the English translation of Income Distribution Reform for 40 years in China: Its Development,Significances and Outlook as an example, this paper points out the factors in the original text that may affect the efficiency and effectiveness of message delivery: the prevalence of lengthy,information-packed sentences, redundancy and wordiness,as well as hidden logical connection, and then discusses how to better convey information with examples. The author finally puts forward four strategies to improve message delivery of social scientific texts, and the main conclusions can be summarized as follows: a)break long complex sentences into shorter units according to sense groups,b)remove superfluous words and overlapping information,c)replace abstract and obscure expressions with specific and common ones, and d)reorganize original information into a better sentence structure. |
