| The translation of investment environment reports plays a crucial part in attracting foreign investment.Whether this goal can be effectively achieved is heavily dependent on the quality of interlingual message delivery. This thesis,a case study based on the translation project of a series of Chinese investment environment reports developed by Deloitte,is aimed to provide strategies for bettering message delivery in the English translation of Chinese investment reports. From the draft translation the author extracts five major problems in message delivery, namely inaccurate semantic connection, information asymmetry, information redundancy, lack of focus and congestion of numerical data.To address these problems, the author, after conducting a comparative analysis of the draft and revised translations backed by previous literature, proposes six strategies, namely enhancing the use of cohesive devices, supplementing background information, simplifying the source text, keeping the subject in line with the topic, accentuating the division between major and minor information with proper sentence structures, and making vertical lists. |
