This paper is a translation report on Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 of Cyberpragmatics:Internet-mediated Communication in Context, which is arguably the first monograph on Internet pragmatics. This practice aims to explore some useful strategies for academic translation and to contribute to the publication of the Chinese version of the book mentioned above. It may also give some impetus to the development of Internet pragmatics research in China.Academic translation, that is,translation of academic works, touches on the Chinese and western academic frameworks and academic discourse systems, and can be roughly divided in the communicative sense and in the scientific sense of language. With cultural exchanges in the context of globalization getting momentum, academic translation is of great significance for global knowledge sharing and the establishment of a community of shared future for mankind. The output of high-quality academic translation is indispensable for the development of academic translation research.Academic works are different from ordinary texts and requires higher professionalism. They are the enrichment of research results in a certain field and an important reference for scholars in the same field. Therefore,on the premise of pursuing language accuracy, the translation of academic works should also pursue the effective transmission of information, which requires translators to take into account cultural differences and cultural commonalities in the source language or the target language,or the source text itself. The present translator, guided by Newmark’s correlative translation theory, discussed the distinguishing features of scholarly works and appropriate translation solutions from three aspects: word selection, sentence translation and text translation. It was found that the parallel application of semantic translation and communicative translation according to the actual context can improve the professionalism and readability of the translation. And it is hoped that this translation practice report will be of some value for the future translation of this type of texts.
