A Report On The Chinese Translation Of Montenegro:A Modern History(Chapter 4&5)

This is a translation report based on the translation of the fourth and fifth chapters of Montenegro:A Modern History.This translation material is a historical document with historical authenticity,precise language and clear logic,describing the historical development of Montenegro's rise and fall.As a country along the route of Belt and Road Initiative,the understanding of the history and culture of Montenegro is of great importance to friendly exchanges between China and Montenegro and can better implement the Belt and Road Initiative.This report deeply discusses language features and translation difficulties of source text on the basis of genotype ruemes and phenotype memes as well as characteristics of meme and the four stages of its transmission under the guidance of Memetics,so as to analyze the transmission of historical and cultural nenes contained in the source language.Combining with characteristics of memes and the their four stages,genotype memes prevailingly transmit information,which can well reflect historically authentic characteristic of historical documents,while phenotype memes transmit different contents in the same form as required,playing a major role in dissemination of history and culture of this kind of text,which can infiltrate into the target language culture.Memetics is rarely used to guide the translation of historical documents,and is mostly written from three aspects of heredity,selection and variation of memes.And the author interprets from two aspects of Memetics and finds that guiding the translation of this text with Memetics is also conducive to improving the quality and readability of the translated text.Through the analysis of the translated text,this report summarizes the translation strategies of historical documents,adopts the strategies of literal translation and free translation,as well as techniques of conversion and splitting to ensure historical authenticity,so as to provide empirical reference for the translation of such works in the future.
