ObjectivesTo investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection and Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).MethodsA total of 920 in-patients who underwent rapid urease test(RUT)and abdominal ultrasonography in our Hospital from January 2018 to September 2018 were enrolled.Finished the basic data collection. The indices including laboratory data,RUT results and abdominal ultrasound results were recorded.Based on the diagnostic criteria of NAFLD,all subjects were divided into NAFLD group and the control group. The differences of Hp infection, gender, age, body mass index(BMI),blood lipids, creatinine, smoking status, hypertension and diabetes were analyzed between those two groups. The relationship between Hp and NAFLD was further analyzed by binary logistic regression.Subjects with diabetes were divided into NAFLD group and control group according to the presence or absence of NAFLD,the correlation between Hp and NAFLD in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM)was further studied.Results1.The rate of Hp infection in all subjects was 23.6%.There was no significant difference in the rate of Hp infection between the NAFLD group(25.3%)and the control group(22.3%,P=0.291).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that Hp infection was not an independent risk factor for NAFLD(P>0.05).2.There were 155 patients with DM.The average age of NAFLD group was younger than that of the control group(P<0.05).while BMI,Triglyceride,Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and Total cholesterol were higher than the control group(P<0.05).The Hp infection rate in the NAFLD group was higher than that in the control group(28.7% vs 14.8%),and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(?2=4.048,P<0.05).3.In the DM population,a binary logistic regression model that included factors of gender, age,BMI,smoking, hypertension and creatinine showed Hp infection was associated with NAFLD(P<0.05).Further adjusted blood lipid index(triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol),the correlation between Hp infection and NAFLD disappeared.Binary logistic regression showed that only low-density lipoprotein cholesterol was associated with NAFLD in blood lipid index.ConclusionsIn this study,Hp infection was not associated with NAFLD in total subjects, but Hp infection was found to be associated with NAFLD in DM population, and may involve in the pathogenesis of NAFLD through low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
