Health is the eternal pursuit of human beings.Medical-health resources are important social factors that affect the health level of residents.Exploring the spatiotemporal relationship between the two can provide theoretical basis for a balanced allocation of health resources and the realization of residents'health equity.Taking Northeast China as the research area, this paper aims to build a database for medical-health resources and a database for residents' health conditions from 1990 to 2015 in terms of three levels, namely the city level, the province level and the whole research area level. The medical-health resources database is based on the total number, the per capita number and the regional average number of three indicators including medical institutions, medical beds as well as health staff.Residents' health conditions database involves such indicators as average life expectancy, maternal mortality, and infant mortality. This paper firstly analyzes the temporal and spatial evolution of each sub-indicator of medical-health resources and residents health levels, constructs an evaluation system for medical-health resources and health levels by adopting the entropy method, and then explores the spatiotemporal features of medical-health resources and residents' health level. Finally, the correlation analysis, stepwise regression analysis and geographic weighted regression analysis are used to explore the spatiotemporal relationships between medical-health resources and residents'health level. The major results of this research are as follows:(1)Spatiotemporal evolution of medical-health resources level:medical-health resources level in Northeast China grows in fluctuation, and their spatial distribution is imbalanced.?In terms of time, from 1990 to 2015,medical-health resources in Northeast China are in a fluctuating growth trend, regardless of the total amount, the population or geographical distribution.?In terms of space,Liaoning Province maintains an absolute advantage over the other two provinces in terms of medical-health resources. The total amount of medical-health resources decreases from the southwest and central plains to the surrounding cities. The per capita level of medical-health resources shows a decreasing trend from the eastern cities to the western cities, and the high-value areas are scattered in the corners of the cities in the northwest, northeast, east, and southwest. The low-value areas are more stable around Qiqihar and Suihua. The regional average level of medical-health resources gradually decreases from southwest to northeast, and the high-value areas stable in the cities of Panjin,Shenyang,Liaoyang,Anshan,Yingkou, and Dalian in the southwest, and low-value areas are stable around Heihe and Yichun.(2)Spatiotemporal evolution of health level:The health level of Northeast China improves continuously, with significant spatial differences.?In terms of time, the health level of residents in Northeast China improves constantly from 2000 to 2015,and always higher than the national average.?In terms of space,Liaoning Province ranks first among the three provinces, followed by Jilin Province and Heilongjiang Province at the end of the three provinces.Areas where people enjoy high life expectancy cluster together and are scattered in the southeast, southwest, and northwest.Low life expectancy areas are more stably distributed in cities such as Suihua,Yichun, and Tonghua. There is no relatively stable high and low value areas, because the maternal mortality varies with time and space. The infant mortality rate generally shows a downward trend from the central region to the southwest and northeast sides. The high level of residents' health are scattered in some cities in edge of the north, east, and southwest, and the low value centers are stable around Suihua and Tonghua.(3)Spatiotemporal relationship between medical-health resources and health level:?Correlation analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between the per capita level of medical-health resources and the level of health,as also as the regional average level of medical-health resources. The correlation between the per capita level of medical-health resources and the level of health is generally higher than the correlation between the regional average level of medical-health resources and the level of health. No matter the per capita or the regional average, the number of beds has the highest correlation with various indicators of residents' health.?Stepwise regression analysis shows that the increase of medical-health resources per capita or regional can promote the health level of residents in Northeast China. The number of institutions per capita has a stronger positive impact on residents' health, and the increase in the number of regional beds has a more significant impact on regional health.,but whether it is per capita or regional average, the increase of health technicians cannot promote the residents' health level in the region.?Geographically weighted regression analysis shows that 3 single indicators of per capita and regional medical-health resources and the level of medical-health resources on health level have spatial differences, and the degree of influence decreases from southwest to northeast.?Binary regression analysis shows that the per capita level of medical-health resources is the main factor influencing the health level of residents, and the promotion of health level by the per capita level of medical-health resources is stronger than that by the regional level.
