Research On Evaluation System And Strategy Of Child-friendly Urban Street Walking Space

At present,there are a large number of " children-unfriendly " behaviors in urban street walking space,such as: space erosion,environment pollution,traffic safety problems,child care lack and so on.In 1996,the United Nations Children's Fund(UNICEF)launched the "child-friendly" city initiative,and since then,activities to protect children's interests in urban space have been launched all over the world.Integrating "Child-friendly " with the design of the urban street walking space has great significance to change the urban street walking space design mode away from the perspective of "cars" and "adult",meet children's activity needs and ensure children's rights and interests in urban street walking space.Taking children aged 7-14 years as the object,this paper summarizes the characteristics demand of child-friendly urban street walking space through the analysis of children's psychological and behavioral characteristics.On this basis,Delphi Method and Analytic Hierarchy Process were used to construct the evaluation system of child-friendly urban street walking space,and then the investigation and Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation on the Child friendly degrees were carried out on the survey sites,which provided help for exploring the design strategies in child-friendly urban street walking space.Through the research,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Based on the analysis of children's psychological and behavioral characteristics,four space demands of child-friendly urban street walking spaces are summarized: safety demand,comfort demand,convenience demand and diversity demand.(2)On this basis,through Delphi Method and Analytic Hierarchy Process,the evaluation system of child-friendly urban street walking space is constructed,including four first-level indexes of safety,comfort,convenience and diversity,10 second-level indexes of children's walking space safety,children's staying space safety and facility safety etc.and 26 third-level indexes of walking space road continuous degrees and walking space width,etc.(3)The evaluation system was applied to the urban street walking space of the LiangCuo road,YangQiao middle road and YangQiao west road in Fuzhou,and then using the method of Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation to evaluate children friendliness status.Based on this,the planning and design strategies including safety guarantee,comfortable walking environment,convenient walking experience and diversified walking activities are proposed for the construction of child-friendly urban street walking space.
