In recent years,reading promotion activities are carried out like a raging fire,the ways of reading promotion have also become diverse.The university library reading promotion on the WeChat public platform is one of the popular ways in the new media era.First of all,this study used documentary analysis to summarize the relevant research at home and abroad,and found that the research on the university library reading promotion on the WeChat public platform is comparatively rare.Then the paper used the artificial investigation method to count the number of WeChat public platform of 985 Project Universities libraries,and found that the taking rate of WeChat public platform of university libraries is high.By using the content analysis method to analyze the published information,it was found that the published information is mainly reading promotion information,and the types of reading promotion information are various.Then it analyzed the related date of the 6678 reading promotion information by the method of WCI(V12.0)in the statistical period,so as to explore the effect of reading promotion.It is found that the effect of university library reading promotion on WeChat public platform is uneven.The effect of reading promotion is not related to the type of WeChat public platform,the percentage of reading promotion and the number of message types,but it is related to the information content types.Then,it used the questionnaire survey method to investigate and analyze the university students’ actual attention and the current reading situation on the public platform of their university libraries,the reading needs and the factors which can affect reading.The survey found that university students paid little attention to WeChat public platform of their university libraries.University students’ reading needs can be divided into two categories:direct benefit information and indirect benefit information.The former one accounted the main part while the later one was subsidiary.The factors that affect the readers’ reading on WeChat public platform of their university library can be divided into two categories.They are the published information quality and the published information habit.Finally,according to the reading promotion status,reading promotion effect and the survey results of readers,the paper put forward a suggestion in order to provide reference for the university library to carry out reading promotion work on WeChat public platform.
