With the widely application of network communication technology, it has great prospect in engineering application to develop a cost-effective network test equipment with rich test function, high reliability and high precision. It will ensure the safe and reliable operation of network equipment, and accelerate the development of the domestic network fault detection technology.Firstly, the Ethernet technology and network communication protocols are introduced in this dissertation, and the functional requirements and performance indicators of the network performance test system are analyzed, and then put forward a new kind network performance test system based on FPGA+ARM+PowerPC architecture; Based on this, the hardware selection and peripheral circuit design of the FPGA hardware platform in this test system is designed, the overall scheme of the function module based on FPGA is studied, and the configuration software used in PC is designed by using VB6.0; Then the FPGA implementation of each function module in the system is designed, including GE test function module, DUT calibration detection module, loopback module and VLAN test module, while the function simulation is completed by Modelsim; Finally, the test system is debugged by Chipscope, and the debug results of each function module are given. The GE test function module is used to test the network performance based on RFC2544 standard, and the performance is analyzed. The experimental results show that the functional modules designed in this dissertation can meet the design requirements.
