Ethernet technology gain almost 30 years of rapid development,since its inception in 1983.Because of its simple structure,easy to use and low price,it gradually gained an overwhelming advantage in networking technology competition.With smart phone's development to promote data-centric services growth,social networks(as Sina Weibo,Renren)and multimedia applications(such as Youku)rise,high Bandwidth network demand couple with high quality of service continues to expand.In today's networks,lOGigabit Ethernet gradually take part in backbone network.But its "best-efforts" design spirit has been insufficient to deal with the status of coexist of data,voice and video.And therefore mechanisms must be used to maintain the Quality of Service(QoS).The new lOGigabit Ethernet technology gain a lot of money,because of its ultra-high-speed.But the high speed also cause trouble for the testing program so that it must put forward itself to catch up with.And the conception of bandwidth profile parameters,service level Agreement of custom data stream as well as comprehensive performance testing call for new test methodology.The current standard Ethernet test solution--RFC2544 has been insufficient to cope with the new demands of QoS testing.ITU-T give us the latest standard---Y.1564 Ethernet service activation test method in 2011,precisely to test the quality of service on Ethernet.Its natural build-in bandwidth profile parameter settings,a more scientific and reasonable performance parameters,make itself a faster and reasonable test methods that have made one appears to get recognized by the industry.This paper is mainly based on Y.1564.We propose a Linux software tester system to adapt to Gigabit Ethernet implementations.The software is made up of two components as EtherSam Tester UI and EtherSam Terst Engine.It has a user-friendly graphical user interface(GUI),able to double-ended measure mode with two test equipments and loopback test mode by itself alone.It can perform the real-time access to KPI performance indicators and data visualization when testing.
