In recent years, more and more empirical study library science researchers' attention, more and more favored by researchers, library academic researchers generally recognized empirical research methods are powerful weapons development library science. This paper describes the basic concepts of empirical research, and then through the application of empirical research methods were categorized. Accordance with the annual distribution, periodical distribution, the author distribution, relating to the distribution, the amount distributed to the article cited statistics application status of empirical research methods and find the law, found that the development trend of empirical research. Then details the empirical research methods in specific ways, and to identify the most used method for statistical research, line graph to represent these three methods use each year.Finally, based on statistical results and experiences of reading literature summary use of empirical research methods at this stage to make a few deficiencies. Too little research 1) the number of empirical studies; 2) the use of empirical research methods over a single; 3) empirical research methods to obtain the original data is too difficult;the lack of systematic training colleges and universities in our country 4) stage; 5)empirical research methods standardization of useless reasonable. At the same time for the question paper also made some suggestions, such as standardization of empirical research; abundant empirical research methods, researchers encourage multi-angle analysis; higher education system to strengthen the training system of empirical research and the like.
