A Comparative Study On The Application Of The Research Methods Of Master Degree Thesis In Archival Science And Library Science Between 2007 And 2016

The paper chooses the master's degree thesis of archival science and library science(January1,2007-January3,2017)from the CNKI as the research sample,analyzes the application status of the research methods in the 2374 master's degree thesis by the content analysis method,the literature research method,the statistical analysis method and the comparative analysis method.And then,the paper compares the application status of the two kinds of research papers,analyzes the commonness and the difference,summarizes the application characteristics and the existing problems of the research method.On this basis,the paper explores the inspiration of the library science research method to the archives discipline,thus predicting the future development trend of archival research methods.The results show that there are the following commonalities in the practical application of archival science and library science: The application of the research method is the most frequent.The application of the logical thinking method is declining.The comparative research method and the case analysis method are frequently used.The application proportion of quantitative research method is increasing.At the same time,there are some differences in the application of the research methods of the two kinds of disciplines,which are as follows: the degree of application and the level of the quantitative research method in the library master's degree thesis,the normative degree of the applied research method and the collaborative application ability of the research method should be higher than the master's degree thesis in Archives.The survey shows that the application of two kinds of disciplines is mainly in the following characteristics: The traditional qualitative research method still dominates the research,but the application of quantitative research method also shows the growth trend.The application of various research methods show obvious structural differences.The research methods are diversified due to the constant introduction of new research methods.Overall,the application of research methods is relatively stable and the co-application ability of research methods have improved.It is worth noting that there are two obviousshortcomings in the application of the research methods of master thesis in archival science and library science,that is,the two disciplines of postgraduate students are not high on the research method literacy,too dependent on qualitative research methods and need to optimize the research method structure.In view of the above research results,the author believes that the library science research method has the following inspiration to the archives discipline: strengthening the education and the training of the archivist research method,enhancing the research method consciousness of the archivist researcher,further standardizing the application of research methods,optimizing the structure of archives research methods to improve the application of quantitative research method and application level,reflecting on the lack of archival research methods,building and improving the subject research methodology.Future research on archival science will show the following trends: Co-application of various research methods and organic combination of quantitative research and qualitative research.Archives researchers will pay more attention to the actual research method application.
