A Comparative Study On The Construction Of Chinese And Japanese Institutional Knowledge Bases

With the deepening of the open access movement, the institutional repository,which is one of its products, has also been considerable development and play an increasingly important role. The institutional repository construction is helpful to improve the digital resource management system and the scholarly communication system. It is helpful to improve the academic competitiveness and social status of academic institutions and scientific research institutions. It is helpful to realize the value of intellectual achievements, and improve the academic influence. It is helpful to promote the development of social culture and education. This article based on a comparative study of Chinese and Japanese institutional repository construction, has a deep understanding of condition of institutional repository construction of two countries in different social and cultural background. Though analysis of policy, funding,technology, content and copyright mechanism of Chinese and Japanese institutional repository construction, found the problem of institutional repository construction in our country and the merit of Japanese institutional repository construction. Brought enlightenment for institutional repository construction in our country, and put forward recommendations to improve institutional repository construction in our country.
