The Impact Of Labor Mobility On Regional Economic Growth In China

With the rapid development of economy,the scale of labor force is expanding in our country.There are many literatures about labor mobility and regional economic growth,most of them are concentrated on the gap of economic growth among the eastern,central and Western,but the role of labor migration on regional economic gap is a no unified conclusion.In order to combine with the reality of our situation well,this paper uses four-way division of our country,the northeast is separated from the eastern region,and uses the per capita GDP to measure the level of regional economic development,focuses on the impact of labor mobility to the regional gap of economic growth.Firstly,this paper uses the Theil index to estimate the overall economic growth gap and the regional economic growth gap between 2000 and 2014.It is found that the gap of China's economic growth is mainly caused by the gap of regional economic growth,and the gap of regional economic growth is narrowing.Secondly,the inter-provincial labor mobility is divided into two parts:the inter-provincial labor force inflow and the labor force inter-provincial outflow,and the per capita capital stock and human capital are taken as the independent variable,and the per capita GDP as the dependent variable,then,the paper set up the empirical analysis model.The paper uses the panel data of Eastern,central,Western and northeast regional to make fixed effects analysis,random elfects.analysis and Houseman test,the inter-provincial labor inflow and labor outflow have a negative effect on the economic growth in the eastern region,has a positive effect on the two Midwest regional economic growth,the inter-provincial labor inflow has a negative effect on the economic growth in northeast area,while the labor outflow has a positive effect on regional economic growth in Northeast region.Thirdly,the contribution of inter-provincial labor force inflow and inter-provincial labor-force outflow to the regional economic growth is introduced into the calculation of Theil index,also,the result is compared with the original Theil index.It is concluded that the inter-provincial force inflow and the force outflow have a narrow effect on the regional economic growth.Therefore,it can be concluded that the inter-provincial labor force flow has a narrow effect on regional economic growth.
