China's regional economic differences have gradually expanded since the reform and opening to world. In term of economic output, the proportion that eastern area accounts for the total national economy continues to increase, while the shares of central and western regions decrease correspondingly, the sum of the latter two is even less than the former. Meanwhile, the scale of the labor mobility increases sharply year by year, and the distribution of which shows the same characteristics as that of economic output. That is, the national floating population concentrates to developed areas such as costal areas. The development economic theory and China's economy situation tell us, Regional economic differences have a significant guiding role on labor mobility, but we are more concerned about: whether the uneven flow of labor force has an effect on China's regional disparity? If so, what kind of impact is, what about the extent? In response to these questions, this paper attempts to use the 'convergence' theory in neo-classical economics to study the impact of labor mobility since 1987 on regional economic disparities. This paper discusses the effect of labor mobility on regional economic disparities. Based on the classical theory and research at home and abroad, it completes empirical analysis of the impact of labor mobility between 1987-2007 years on China's regional economic disparities by means of both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis method.First of all, this article states the current situation of China's regional economic disparities and labor mobility status quo from the historical perspective. It points out new changes in China's regional economic disparities by using two indicators: the Gini coefficient and Theil coefficient, and then analyzes the labor mobility status quo from two angels: the size and flow characteristics of labor mobility.Secondly, this paper establishes the regression model between labor mobility and economic growth it also analyzes how the labor mobility contributes to China's regional economic disparities and convergence speed of the three zones, and then makes explanation on the data analysis results. Finally, it comes to the summary, and puts forward relevant policy recommendations, mainly from four aspects to take measures to promote the orderly flow of labor force and finally achieve the coordinated development of regional economy in China.
