Regional Economic Impact Analysis Of Inter-provincial Labor Mobility

Since the reform and opening up, the economic development imbalances between various regions happened during the China’s economic development process. The government formulated a series of relevant policies in order to balance the economic development in regions. Capital aggregation and population movements were the important factors that affecting the balance. With the higher level of social and economic development, improvement in household registration system and better transportation facilities, the migrations, especially inter-provincial, increased rapidly. But the influence about labor migration on regional economic disparities did not have the consistent conclusion currently. For reasonably guiding migrant workers and reducing regional economic disparities, it should further explore the mechanism and it had an important practical significance and application value.It was beginning to research the current situation for reviewing and summarizing the theory and literatures of labor mobility and regional economic disparities. Based on analysis of the population mobility condition and causes in the latest two population census, especially the factor analysis, it could improve the regional population mobility theory. Under the analytical framework of neoclassical economics, and the assumption of strict economic model, it would verify the theory for utilizing 1995--2010 years of factors related to labor mobility and economic data. By using convergence model of economic growth and the panel data of regions in 2001—2010, there was analyzed econometric model settled to analysis the labor mobility affect the mechanism of regional economic disparities.Using the model articles analyze the impact of labor migration on regional economic disparity, the following conclusions:the inter-provincial labor mobility contributed to reduce the regional economic gap, and the government could promote balanced regional economic development by the method of reasonable and orderly labor migration. Based on the economic growth convergence model, thus, it must be the combination policies and institutions that achieved regional economic growth convergence. Finally, it was the suggestions and policy to narrow the regional economic gap and aim to the balanced development.
