In recent years, with the rapid development of cloud computing, the amount of cloud-based services increases rapidly. However, the increasing of services brings the growth of the complexity of infrastructure. In order to operate and control these complex infrastructures efficiently and reasonably,we need a effective cloud monitoring system. Now domestic and international companies begin to study and develop cloud monitoring.Alibaba,Google,Amazon and some other companies already offer cloud monitoring service. Now OpenStack is a widely used open source cloud project.Ceilometer offer data collecting service for Openstack as its subproject. But it still exits some problems, such as too few monitoring items,no fine-grained monitoring data and uneffective monitoring dashborad. However,Ceilometer is open source and uses plugins to collect monitoring data,so its structure is very flexible.Above all,it is possible to develop and extend Ceilometer. In this paper,I design and implement a cloud monitoring platform based on Ceilometer. On the basis of open source project OpenStack,I do developing on its subproject Ceilometer. The whole cloud monitoring platform consists of monitoring plugins, monitoring data interface and monitoring dashboard.Monitoring plugins design and implement the plugins of agent compute, which is the data collecting service of Ceilometer, add monitoring items of hosting and instance. Then monitoring items get monitoring data through polling and compute statistic value. At last it store data in database.Monitoring data interface is used to get monitoring data from database. It use REST API to get data from database.Monitoring dashboard offer a web platform for collecting data.It presents information about the whole cloud, every host and instance.
