The Design And Implementation Of Network Host Monitoring And Management System

With the development of information society, more and more units began to strengtheninformation network construction and to build their own industrial park network. With therapid increase on the network-based applications, more and more attention is paid to thenetwork security. Compared to the network security threats from outside, the internal networksecurity threats could, though more subtle, happen more easily and would cause greaterdamage. In order to guarantee the security of network information and maintain the networkoperation in good order, we necessarily need a set of a monitoring and management system ofthe host access to the industrial park network. We design this topic from the actual workpractices, hoping that the system can warn and alarm the violations arises during the hostaccess, and have a prompt attention and do statistics afterwards. The main working and resultsare as follows:According to the the present research situation and the problems both at home andabroad, we did a research on three common prevention methods of the host access: SwitchControl, Router Isolation and Authentication Control, and analyses their advantages andweaknesses; according to the requirement’s of the system, we separate it into UserAdministrative Module, Host Network Management Module, Network EquipmentManagement Module, Scanning Monitor Module and Log Management Module; We focus onthe Host Network Management method based on the ARP and SNMP protocols, and analysestheir limitations; in view of the system’s overall goal, we puts forward the design idea of thesystem, and build the framework of the Network Host Monitoring and Management System;in view of the deployment problems in VLAN of the system, we take Trunk Technologies inthe connection between the system and the switch so as to realize the management of all hostswithin VLAN; according to the problem that different types of the switch are different in dataaccess, we define the interface class of the switch data and develop the correspondinginterface in order to improve the expansibility of the system; we apply OOD (object-oriented Design) to the process of the class of the system’s analying and designing, usingobject relational mapping technology for the analysis and design of the database; We also didthe cod written work of the system and completed the software of the system.After the test, this system can monitor the host access to the industrial park networkautomatically, realizing the automatic inspection and supervision of the use of the system inorder to reach the requirement of real time monitoring and effective management. We can summarize the paper that the system has such advantages as small amount ofnetwork configuration, strong real time character,accuracy and reliability. We also putforward some improvements as the combination of the host probe techniques, also thecombination of the network topology rendering technology, remote concentratedmanagement,etc.
