The Research And Impelementation Of Campus Network Services And Host Monitoring System

With the development of information technology and the Internet economy era, peopleare increasingly dependent on the network. The computer network scale is expandingconstantly, the services and the hosts on the network are more and more, which leads to thenetwork fault rate, management of drop. Short-term service or host abnormalities may has thepotential to cause huge economic losses.Therefore, how to guarantee the normal operation ofservices and hosts on the network, and promptly notify the network administrator in theservice or host on the network when an exception occurs, more and more attention.Large-scale network complexity makes traditional network management can no longermeet the requirements of high data volume and high traffic. In order to make networkmanagement with better performance and scalability, it is moving in the direction of thedevelopment of distributed and WEB. Enterprise JavaBean3frame structure and JavaMessage Service asynchronous messaging mechanism provide a very good platform to ourdevelopment of distributed network management software. Especially EJB technology, itprovides basic distributed application system logic structure, allowing developers to focus onbusiness logic development.In this paper, using EJB technology and JMS technology, we design and implement aservice and host monitoring system with strong versatility, high efficiency and light loadquantity. This system is mainly divided into three modules: service monitoring module,host monitoring module and remote control module. Service monitoring subsystem, detectwhether the network service is running, when some of the services on the network areabnormal, alarm timely. This module presents the types of service monitoring: FTP service,TFTP service and DB2service. Host monitoring subsystem, get some information when thehost is running on the network, so that network administrators can learn some details of thehosts, and alarm timely when certain performance data exceeds a certain threshold. Thismodule presents the types of host monitoring: Windows host, Linux host and Solaris host.Remote control system, when exceptions of services or hosts on the network occurred, allowsnetwork administrators to perform some remote control at the monitoring terminal;The system has been running on the server of the network laboratories of the South ChinaUniversity of Technology. After the test, each system function can run correctly, meet thesystem design requirements.
