Review On Xieying Bo's Thoughts On Journalism

XieYingbo was one of the revolutionists in the revolution of 1911 who was also a renowned newspaper man and journalism educationist in the period of the Republic of China.This paper is based on XieYingbo'sjournalism practice and education activities in order to study the fountainhead and background of his thoughts.Though the analysis of his doctrines in journalism education and practice,this paper could mark the development of his thoughts in journalism as well as to unravel the inherent relation between his thoughts in journalism and the revolution in that age.This paper,consequently,is initiated from two aspects.One of the perspectives of this study starts from the incipience of Xie'sthoughts in the journalismduring the revolutionary years to its maturityin his education activities.Through a comparison in the status quo of thoughts between the West and China,this paper studies both the traditional Chinese impact and Western influence on Xie's thoughts in journalism in terms of his upbringing's environment and education.Besides,the development of Xie's thought could never be split from the social vortex of thoughts,from the journalism context,form the mass media,and from Sun Yat-sun's political beliefs.All these factors in revolution and thinking moulds and inspires XieYingbo'snotion in journalism.With the development of capitalistic revolution in China,the thought of journalism matures.XieYingbo's ambition in revolution accompanies him throughout his activities in journalism,especially in his ambitions the field of education.This underpins his thoughts in the journalism education.The other perspective of this study is inaugurated from Xie'sjournalism practice and education activities so as toseek the quality and inspiration of XieYingbo in the development of his journalism career.This part of study serves as a comparison to study Xie's matured thoughts in journalism.As a result,this part furthers into Xie'sdoctrines in journalism education though the specialized school he has set exclusively for journalism in China,his activities and ideas in schooling,and his cultivation of the students.As far as this paper is concerned,Xie's activities in revolution,journalism,and education is inseparable from the journalism in Guangdong in the period of the Republic of China in the development of the ideas and activities incapitalistic revolution and in the development of thejournalism.The journalism practice and education XieYingbo has devoted to,from its incipience to its flouring,not onlymanifests the the ambition and idea of the literati and elites on the issue of journalism in the period of the Republic of China,but also exposes the flaws in his thoughts.With such a historical study,this paper intends to have a contemplation on and to illuminate the current situation in the development of journalism.
