On Huang Tianpeng’s Journalism Thoughts And Practice

Huang Tianpeng is a celebrated scholars and educator of modern journalism with the most academic achievements. For several reasons, the researches on journalism thoughts and practice of Huang Tianpeng at present are not comprehensive and systematic enough. With the increasing subject consciousness of the study on journalism history, Huang Tianpeng is being growing concerned by news academics. This paper attempts to explore a comprehensive, systematic and theoretical journalism thought and practice of Huang Tianpeng. In this paper, a historical literature method is used to organize the relevant information and documents. First the experience of the Huang Tianpeng is sketched out. Afterward, his research and contribution to journalism, his idea of popular editing, publishing and journalism education are analyzed in detail. Then the origin of his ideas on news is explored. Finally his theory and practice of the news is commented.Result shows that Specialization and popularization are the two keywords which can unscramble the journalism thoughts and practice of Huang tianpeng. Specialization refers to that Huang Tianpeng promoted the development of journalism academic by his own study and academic activity, including setting up professional society, academic journal and professional study institute, editing and publishing academic data and doing some creative research. Popularization refers to that Huang Tianpeng popularized journalism knowledge actively, advocated media literacy education, proposed popularized editing and practiced in person. These two aspects are linked to each other and are also supplement to each other in the system of Huang Tianpeng’s journalism thoughts. The feature of this structure is rightly the specific need of Chinese journalism thoughts in that period and this is also his unique contribution.
