The 4G technology has swept the world, and the 5G technology has been achieved in the laboratory. The LTE-Advanced(LTE-A) which takes on the evolution of 4G to 5G is in a crucial period of development. Its current situation, future business, and following the evolution of technology has always been the focus of the industry. The primary objective of the LTE-A system is to enhance the performance of users' moving with a low speed(10km/h), and to maintain backward compatibility with LTE. The MIMO technology provides a higher transmission rate and spectrum efficiency, and will not increase system bandwidth or transmit power, which makes the MIMO technology become a core technology in the LTE system and the LTE-A system. The “central base station-dispersed terminal” model was adopted in the mobile communication system, and the channel state information with precise measurement is a reasonable parameter to reflect the performance of the current MIMO system. The CSI measurement technology of UE terminal in the LTE-A system is the focus in this thesis.First,the relevant protocols and algorithms if CSI measurement of the LTE-A system are analyzed in this thesis.Based on in-depth study of the CSI measurement algorithms,the following aspects were concluded: a) The channel estimation algorithm needed to be improved to reach a better performance at the CSI-RS; b) The mapping adaptive CQI measurement algorithm based on effective SNR enhance the performance to the MIMO system; c) The RI measurement combined with SNR significantly improves the link performance; d) The PMI measurement algorithm based on maximizing the minimum singular value is the most suitable algorithm for project realization, and the complexity of the 8-antenna precoding codebook selection algorithm of the LTE-A is too high to need to be further reduced. The implementation of algorithm was determined through the study of above algorithms.Second, based on the determined implementation of algorithm, the ASIC implementation strategy and design scheme were determined from the view of chip design. And the detailed design specification of SCI measurement module was given in this thesis, and the advanced ASIC design methods were used to implement the RTL code of this module.Finally, use the UVM verification method based on the System Verilog language to building block level verification platform. To achieve functional verification, effective coverage, logic synthesis for the design of all the features of the module point. In conclusion: compared to the previous CSI measurement module of the project, the designed module can accurate measure the RI value in line with the current channel environment in different channel environments; While in 8-antennas PMI measurement, with a smaller loss at the expense of performance obtain time-consuming saving about 60%, area and power consumption are reduced by 5.13% and 8.003%, reached the area and power requirements for terminal equipment. Thus it's demonstrating the correctness and validity of the design.
