With the development of DTV technology,a variety of DTV front-end equipment has emerged. But there is a lack of an efficient management system for these diverse equipment. As the core function of a management system, alarm management has to monitor these equipment's running states and detect the bad ones.It ought to help administrators to fix system bugs as soon as possible to provide stable and better service to customers. The mechanisms of object notification and message delivery used in the alarm management system are detailed introduced in this paper. This system mostly use push-mode on server end to send newly-created alarm information and use pull-mode on client-end to get all of them. Both modes use XML documents to store and transport Java objects. In this paper the alarm management system is divided into six parts.Real-time Alarm Monitor fully use these mechanisms to get latest alarm information from the server to accomplish real-time monitoring.Alarm Notification Management, setting different accounts, can complete multi-end alarm notification.Alarm Filter Management, which needs to set some filter conditions,is designed to filter alarms and make administrators focus on his interested ones.Besides, there still are other sub-models whose names respectively are History Alarm Management,Alarm Type Definition and Alarm Summary,to implement different functionalities. All of the sub-models cooperate harmoniously with others to form Alarm Management System. The system introduced in this paper has been well tested and proved to meet this design's demands with high performance. Some disadvantages and advice about this system have been given in the last part of this paper for further research.
