The Construction Of Collective Memory In Memorial Report Of Wenchuan Earthquake

The Wen Chuan earthquake was one of the most affected and the worst-hit earthquake since New China was founded.Since 2009,the media's commemoration report about Wen Chuan earthquake in our country has never stopped,and the collective memory constructed by the commemoration report about Wen Chuan earthquake has become the spiritual food for people on the road of "never forget history and keep forward."The formation of collective memory is the result of a combination of subjective and objective factors.Among them,the media plays an important role in the process of constructing collective memory.Media memory is an integral part of collective memory.The media is not only the recorder but also the singer of history.And it serves as a bridge connecting the "past" with the "present".Media is not only an important carrier for people to receive information,but also an important means for the state to carry out consensus propaganda.The typical events of media propaganda are playing an important role in guiding public opinion and singing the main melody of the times,and also playing a decisive role in recalling collective memory and identification.The collective memory constructed in the commemorative report of the Wenchuan earthquake aims at demonstrating the reconstruction of disaster-stricken areas,rebuilding the confidence of people in disaster-stricken areas and shaping the national image.Taking the commemoration report of Wen Chuan Earthquake since 2009 by People's Daily as an example,this paper will use textual analysis and discourse analysis,and from the perspective of collective memory to deeply analyze the ways,characteristics of the authoritative party newspaper in reviewing disaster reconstruction,then make the reason analysis.The study found that the commemorative report of the Wenchuan earthquake in People's Daily mainly covered five major issues,including the reconstruction of the disaster-stricken areas,earthquake relief materials,heroes,commemorative activities and post-disaster literature and art development,constructing and shaping the Wenchuan earthquake collective memory by highlighting and covering different issues.In the report,the People's Daily adopted a front attitude to create a collective memory,which fulls of positive energy.Such a positive attitude is inseparable fromthe restriction of the communication system and the restriction of the reporting mode.Based on these researches,the author puts forward three conclusions of this study: to highlight the construction of collective memory with the relatively concentrated coverage of topics;to create positive collective memory by positive attitude of the report;and to find the distinctive national will in the formation of collective memory.
