A Research On The Ritual Representation And Construction Of Chinese Journalists' Day

Chinese journalists' day is one of the four professional festivals in China,which is parallel with teachers' day,nurses' day and doctors' day.For the Chinese press,the press day should be an important celebration and propaganda node that cannot be missed.At this special moment,appropriate ritual communication methods can be used to emphasize the professional concept and professional norms,enhance the professional identity of the practitioners,shape the professional image,and construct the perception of the festival ceremony within and outside the professional group.The purpose of this paper is to investigate the ritual representation and construction process of Chinese journalist day.The research methods are quantitative analysis and text analysis.The research samples are the press day news of People's Daily and China Youth Daily from 2000 to 2018.The theory used is James carrey's "ritual view of communication",in addition,it also used the ritual characteristics of anthropology and Roland buller's theory of "ritual communication".It is found that there are three kinds of ritual representations in Chinese journalist day: ritual space and time,ritual participants and ritual field.November 8 is the ceremonial time of Chinese journalists' day.The ceremonial space is divided into secular space and symbolic space.The government,media and institutions of higher learning are participants in the ceremony,and they carry out activities in the media ceremony field and the university ceremony field.The ritual construction of Chinese journalist day in news reports is mainly reflected in three aspects: ritual behavior,ritual situation and ritual expression.In terms of ritual behaviors,news reports adopt regular,positive and objective reporting methods to create a festive atmosphere and build professional identity of journalists.In terms of ritual situation,news reports reflect the value and significance of festivals through the arrangement of discourse space and time.On the one hand,the time of discourse and story are close to and coincide with each other to realize the emphasis on the ritual time of press day.On the other hand,it excavates the connotation of the story space and enriches the sanctity and symbolism of the story space.In terms of ritual expression,news reports use the spirit and status symbols of character symbols.Career aspirations of journalists.And the national and media understanding of the mission of journalism.Trigger the emotional resonance of the participants in the ceremony,complete the transmission of faith,emotion and will.News reports have gained some good experience in the ritual construction of Chinese journalist day.When presenting the space and time of the ceremony,relying on the advantages of the platform,focus on the report,arrange the layout position reasonably,and strengthen people's perception of the time of the ceremony.In the process of ritual expression,positive reports and mission issues are used to enhance readers' acceptance of communication intention.Use the symbolic function of character symbol and behavior symbol to enhance the professional identity and ritual experience of journalists.However,there are also some problems in the ritual construction,such as the weak consciousness of the ritual construction,the neglect of the symbolic meaning of the ritual symbols,the separation of the media ritual field from the university ritual field,and the content and style of the report are patterned.
