Like a thruster of human society,technology is constantly updating to promote the development of the era.In 2014,Facebook acquired the Oculus by $2 billion,which declared its entrance into the virtual reality area.Until then,the word Virtual Reality(VR)technology stepped into the public view.The development of VR technology not only astonished the capital market,but also affected the evolution of various industries of humanity society,especially the media industry.With the appearance of VR technology,the sense of "telepresence"required by audiences in new media context is easily satisfied and the interactivity of works is enhanced,so that audiences can be the participator of events and generate empathy effect with the environment.VR technology has become a new transmission medium which promotes the appearance of a brand-new form of news reporting--VR news.Narratology has been introduced into the realm of Journalism and provides a new perspective and theoretical framework for the study of news stylistics.Almost every medium newly arisen will change news narration.Now,we still have a blurred vision about the future development trends of VR news.How to be.an all-media worker adapting to this evolving age is the question now faced by all practitioners.Firstly,the concepts of terms involved will be illustrated.Based on the communication's viewpoint,the theoretical framework for "virtual reality as a media form" has supported by the "technological determinism" and"humanity trend" theories.After explaining the media attributes of virtual reality,the essay puts forward that virtual reality had the attributes of interactivity,immersion,self-selection and authenticity,which satisfied the further demands of journalism for "restoring the truth".Secondly,according to the application status and practice situation of the technology in Journalism,the VR news has been divided into three types,CGI(Computer Generated Images),2D panoramic video and 3D panoramic video.And moreover,3D panoramic video with depth information will be the most common type of VR news.After analyzing nearly 500 VR news from VR News Lab and New York Times,the subject-types of VR news have been sorted out and analyzed.Thirdly,under the impulse of VR,the pattern of news expression is reconstructed.From the perspective of narrative,the influence of VR as a medium on general news narrative has been concluded:compared with general news narrative,the narrative contents appear a trend from surface information to deep narrative;the narrative space turns from "absence" to"remote-presence";narrative structure is no longer linear;the information is mainly exploited by recipients;narrative language applies more symbols rather than relying on text only;narrative style prefers "practicality +aesthetic".Finally,combining the narrative features of VR news and hands-on experience,several narrative strategies have been concluded,including pertinency of narrative subjects,originality of narrative perspective,time synchronization of narrative and story,multi-application of narrative symbols,simplification of narrative structure and other narrative skills.Since VR/AR equipments haven't been universal,this essay tries to treat the VR news from a producer view,and verifies the argument step by step through interviews with industry practitioners.Hope to provide some practice and study directions for those who want to be the practitioners of VR news.
