Chinese non-fictional writing originated from the United States in the 1960s,the ideas of which emerged from the confluence of non-fiction and new journalism.China's journalism industry is faced with the challenge and transformation of the era of mobile Internet, and non-fictional news discourse has risen to be one of the leading modes. The rise of new media represented by WeChat and Weibo enables the audience more channels to be exposed to and disseminate a large number of outstanding non-fictional works;new platforms for non-fictional writing have also emerged, such as the Noon Story,Tencent Gu Yu Lab,Story Hardcore,etc.Non-fictional writing is similar to reportage and feature writing. In the current news practice of China, the latter two have gradually declined due to various reasons. Therefore, whether and how non-fictional writing can replace reportage and feature writing,as well as how non-fictional writing can expand the boundaries of journalism practice are the main questions to be studied in this paper. This paper selects five media platforms that strongly advocate non-fictional writing, and study samples for text analysis include 30 classic articles post by their WeChat accounts over the past two years. The narrative subject, narrative object and narrative strategy of the sample articles are key issues for the study,in order to explore how non-fictional writing can expand the boundaries of journalism practice. The research finds that the narrative subjects of non-fictional writing are very diverse, including professional journalists and parties in news events, emphasizing the intervention and presence of narrative subjects. The narrative object is a wide range of topics, mainly focusing on group portraits, the restoration of news events and the in-depth description of stories of the times. In the application of narrative strategies, there are mainly descriptions, dialogues, suspense, and interactive narratives based on new technologies.Therefore,non-fictional writing has played an important role and has expanded the boundaries of journalism practice in terms of narrative subject.narrative object, and narrative strategy. Finally, the paper also discusses the problems in the development of non-fictional writing:non-fictional writing must adhere to the bottom line of authenticity. At the moment when non-fictional writing is in the ascendant, this paper uses the perspective of narratology to study the non-fictional writing that flourishes on the new media platform, and discusses its development and possible problems, which is conducive to promoting its further development.
