Access network is the major key of the development of national information infrastructure, it is also becomes a stumbling which realization of communication modernization.In recent years. The access-scheme design and construction of FTTX based on PON Technology has become the focus of academic research and master point of the all communication operators. At the requirement of the users and government about increasing demand for band-width, the CHINA TELECOM proposed the strategic deployment of "replacement of copper cables with optical fiber cables", Combined with the new trend of triple play, quickly-extension and overall-implementation the engineering of FTTH witch based on GPON Technology. After about three years rapid development, the number of FTTH users has reached a certain scale, it provided an important support to the development of China information technology.In the article, firstly, it briefly introduces the research status and development trends of optical access network, surrounding the basic principle and characteristics of Passive Optical Network, Comparing the advantages and disadvantages of three kinds of PON technology, introducing the GPON technology emphatically, constructing the FTTH access network architecture based on Gigabit-Capable PON and analyzing the protection mechanism of the three kinds of PON network. Then, combined with the evolution of optical access network and the access network architecture of KUNMING TELECOM, this paper introducing the technology principle of wired FTTH and optical fiber wireless access, deploying and planning the Optical Line Terminal(OLT)and Optical Network Unit(ONU).In the paper, analyzing the ODN structure of FTTH network emphatically.elaborating the original and optimized network structure of KUNMING TELECOM, analyzing and explaining the principle of the optical cable construction and splitting, giving some suggestions for the selection of passive components, using the" worst value method" to calculate the attenuation of ODN network.In the last, In connection with the four different scenarios of the villa, high-rise residential, low level residential and commercial buildings, with the two FTTH cable project examples of ZHONGTIAN garden and LISHUI garden, From the perspective of engineering practice and the configuration and installation of equipment, elaborate the feasibility and rationality of FTTH implementation scheme witch based on GPON. At the same time, the project was verified by the project evaluation, By expatiation, hoping to untangle the system framework and related technologies of FTTH access based on GPON, so that can give some reasonable design or planning suggestions and a few indicative value in the construction of the engineering project, also be able to build a scientific system of FTTH based on GPON technology, Achieve the goal of the fiber to the home.
