The Design And Development Of University Library Information Service System

The development of the technology related to computers, and the intervention of modern innovative advanced techniques and the application of mobile internet make the library services multi-functional: the traditional service model, original and single, focusing on borrowing and returning books is evolved into a new one whose core idea is information service. The concept of multi-functional library service is emphasizing the integration of information service, the modernization of data service and the diversification of service functions. This concept has been gradually accepted by more and more libraries. Under such environments there is an urgent demand to develop the library information service platform: intelligentized, integrated and internetized.To meet the demand, an innovative Library Management System has been created. The system is constructed by.NET frame and Microsoft SQL, driving by the B/S model. It is consisted of four parts: Mobile Library Service--served for mobile devices, Reader Service Centre--served for students readers, the interior OA system--met the demand of teachers in the libraries and an information platform responsible for all exterior search and declaration of information. Every part can work independently for the related users, or can serve them in cooperative way. The development stage of the system must strictly obey the software developing concept and use UML language to analyze the demand and to design the functions of the system to ensure the comprehensiveness and integrity of the system design. Therefore, we are applying the Reader Label and Reader Points System to better the service for the readers. The introduction of Reader Points System enhances the readers' enthusiasm to use the related service of libraries, balances the proportion of services among the modules, and modulates the proportional optimization of services of the related resources in libraries. And the Reader Label, based on the readers' digital records in our database, divides the types of the readers by the way of the service provided by libraries and the demand of the readers as the reader label. The technology of Reader Label is a process during which all kinds of library services and reader demand have been set and identify by the label and the metadata information process. Reader Label is a concept, but it is also the technique used to divide some library function enjoyed by the readers. The introduction of new technique and concept will inevitably improve the services of university libraries.The application of information service system in the university libraries safeguards the escalation of service and the promotion of function of the libraries.
