With the rapid development of Embedded technology, singlechip and wireless communication, wireless sensor network(WSN) technology is growing mature and has became widely used in multi-field. The development of wireless sensor network changes the development situation in traffic, medical treatment, prospecting, safety and national defense. Driving the conventional industries by the latest sensor technique and wireless technique. Sink node is an important node in wireless sensor network. Sink node is generally designed on advanced technologies as ARM or FPGA, which is too expensive to make it universal. The new technology Arduino and its related hardware has many advantages, such as low cost and easy to use. The thesis focuses on realizing the sink node in wireless sensor network by Arduino technology and Microduino modules.This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of sink node in in-door WSN applications of wireless sensor network based on Microduino and gives a test on the whole system in order to show the application value of the system. The thesis based on embedded system development flow. Combines with the design purpose, and uses the latest technology Microduino together with the latest Zigbee and GPRS technique to put forward a kind of design of wireless sensor network sink node in order to make the cost and the power consumption lower. The thesis builds the WSN sink node by the cost-effective hardware Microduino, not only reduces the cost but also carries the easy-to-realize advantage from Arduino.The thesis also put forward a kind of power saving algorithm in order to reduce the power consumption of the whole system.This thesis is based on in-door environment monitoring or scale limited applications. Putting forward a general design of the sink node, including hardware design and choosing, software design and implementation, system testing and result analysing. The sink node system uses Microduino-Core+ module as micro control unit,and it connects the Zigbee module and GPRS module to transmit data, accomplished in data collection, aggregation and Internet accessing. The system contains a self-designed power-saving algorithm with the help of the sleep mode of Zigbee module, GPRS module and Core+ module. The algorithm is based on the data similarity of a period of time. Temperature, humidity and illumination sensors are used as example in the circumstance of in-door applications to test the function of the system and the communication quality. Using control variate method and compare theenergy consumption to get the efficiency of the power-saving algorithm. Finally the thesis realizes the function of the sink node and validates the application value of it, achieve the purpose of the research.
