Wireless sensor networks which Receives more international attention now than in the past, is an emerging technology and the revolution result of information perception and acquisition. This Cutting-edge technology will make great impact on the mankind lives. The timely research about it is very important for the society and economic of the entire country. Sensor network, as a "ubiquitous" ideology, has already been widely used in the national defense and military, environmental monitoring, traffic management, health care, manufacturing, disaster rescue. It has highlighted the enormous application value. In the future, our lives will be accompanied by the network because of the rapid development of the embedded technology, wireless communication technology, semiconductor technology. It isn't a distant dream.This paper is focus on the application about wireless sensor networks technology in the environmental monitoring system, develops a new low-power wireless network sink node for environmental information monitoring drawing on past experience of wired data acquisition, which meets wireless sensor networks architecture model. As a data-centric, application-oriented networking system that requires built-in microprocessor sink nodes should not only have strong data processing capabilities, data storage capacity, but also must ensure that convenience of communication link and stability. In this design, following the embedded system development process, selecting the appropriate microprocessor, RF chip, wireless communication module, the current popular wireless communications technologies such as GPRS, ZigBee technology, completing sensor network sink node hardware platform design through careful analysis, calculation, simulation, in about one year. In a number of indoor and outdoor test environment, the existence of design defects, functional defects have been gradually be improved. In a joint system test, the relative stability of sink node ensures that the test objects (such as soil, air temperature and humidity, etc.) upload the user successfully; the server control instructions are issued to the collection nodes timely. The main tasks are as follows:1. Described the function of general sink node and related wireless communication technology.2. Followed the design principles and specifications, gave the overall realization of the program.3. Used a modular architecture and easy communications interface to realize the program, described the key components and their Peripheral circuits.4. Tested PCB, Recorded results and debug problems found.5. Participated in joint system test, verified the actual work stability of the sink node.
