Wireless sensor network (WSN) was firstly used in military field, in recent years, it has been a rapid applied in civilian field, particularly in the internet of things. smart home and so on. With the development of WSN application, the quality of information transmission between nodes, the requirements of real-time data processing raise a higher requirement for the information processing and computing ability of sink node in WSN. At present, most of the microprocessors used in all types of wireless sensor network nodes are single chip computers, its data processing capability is poor, can only simply achieve simple capability of data acquisition, data processing and forwarding. It can satisfy the requirement of common sensor nodes but can not meet the higher data processing need of sink node. Therefore, design a powerful, low cost, secondary developable and common sink node will benefit the popularization and application of WSN.In order to strengthen the data processing ability of the sink node in WSN, in this thesis. based on the chip of ARM9 and Linux operating system, we design and realize a kind of new WSN sink node which possesses strong processing ability and can be widely applied and secondary developed. The conent of this thesis is divided into following sections:Firstly, this thesis outlines the principle of wireless sensor networks, analyzes the developing situation at home and abroad of sink node in WSN, points out the shortcomings of the current nodes, analyzes the requirements of sink node, discusses the process of hardware design of the node based on S3C2440 and CC2420, then, introduces the principle of hardware modules and the concrete realization method.Secondly, in terms of the software, according to the hardware structure of sink node, we choose embedded Linux as the operating system of S3C2440, choose Zigbee protocol stack as node's network protocol. We also analyze the software structure of embedded Linux system, transplantation of boot loader, Linux kernel and file system, achieve the software configuration and transplantation to the sink node.Finally, we take the temperature measurement of sensor nodes as example, build a sink node test environment. Use this sink node and several ordinary nodes to build a WSN network, then form a WSN temperature monitoring system with the upper computer monitoring interface developed by C # language. The test results show that the sink node has all the preplanned functions and lays a good foundation for the further research and development.
